Welcome to Autism Explorers CIC!
A family-centred CIC supporting autistic and SEND children, young people, parents and carers across Norfolk through inclusive experiences, sensory adventures and community connection.
Why Families Choose Us:
Autism Explorers CIC is a non-profit CIC created to make inclusive, sensory-friendly experiences more accessible for autistic and SEND children and their families. Every session, resource and workshop is designed with understanding, flexibility, and connection at its heart.
Skills development through engaging-play!
Fine Motor
Offering a variety of child-led fine motor activities designed to challenge and build on existing abilities. Through activities like crafting, malleable tasks, or small-object play (for example: tasks that develop coordination and hand strength), children practise skills that contribute to independence and brain development.
These experiences help children grow their control, dexterity, and coordination, skills that support important everyday tasks such as writing, feeding, and self-care.
Gross Motor
At every session, Autism Explorers CIC emphasises gross motor development to build independence, confidence, and coordination.
Through movement-based play, children are encouraged to develop balance, strength, body awareness and motor coordination — all fundamental for physical independence and overall well-being.
Speech, Language and Communication
Autism Explorers CIC offers experiences designed to make sense of visual and verbal communication, while encouraging friendship-building, social interactions, and emotional regulation.
By creating a supportive, inclusive environment where communication is encouraged, whether through guided group activities, child-led play or gentle prompting, children can practise and develop their language, interaction and expressive skills in a way that feels natural and safe.
Personal, Social and Emotional
Autism Explorers fundamentally aims to be a nurturing, sensory-aware community for SEN children and their families.
By providing a welcoming, accepting space, with supportive volunteers, structured but flexible activities, and opportunities for social interaction, children feel safe to explore, build friendships, and engage at their own pace. This helps support emotional regulation, social confidence, self-expression, and a sense of belonging.
Play, Cognition and Learning
Every session at Autism Explorers is thoughtfully themed and designed to stimulate curiosity, imagination, and cognitive growth.
Through a combination of sensory-informed play, creative activities, group games, and evidence-based strategies (like child-led or guided play), children are encouraged to learn through doing: exploring, problem-solving, experimenting and discovering. This supports not only present-moment enjoyment, but long-term learning, attention, focus and developmental progress.
