Do I need a formal diagnosis to be an explorer?
NO! - A formal diagnosis is not needed or required to attend any of our services that we provide. Autism Explorers is here for anyone that needs an extra SEND support.
What makes Autism Explorers different from other SEN support communities or organisations?
Autism Explorers offers FREE, support, advice and guidance. Each session, workshop & trip is planned and created with SEN children and families in mind.
What advice would you give to parents and carers who are considering joining Autism Explorers?
Autism Explorers is an inclusive and safe space for all. We are there to support parents and carers as well as the children. We understand SEN and provide a safe and understanding environment, without judgement.
What happens if my child becomes overwhelmed, overstimulated or dysregulated?
Autism Explorers Team Members are always on hand to help support both children and their families through meltdowns. We can offer some time in our Quiet/Reflection Room, this will be a quiet and calm environment with books, colouring and sensory toys.
What are Sensory Saturday's and when do they run?
Sensory Saturday is our child-led stay-and-play from birth to 12 years old, with a variety of sensory stations and activities benefiting basic life skills, social interaction, fine and gross motor skills, etc. This runs every Saturday from 9:45am to 12:00pm at Jubilee Community Centre, NR1 2EX.
What are Discovery Day's and when do they run?
Discovery Days with Autism Explorers supports home-educated and flexi-schooled children with specialised learning-through-play sessions. Focusing on developing life skills, basic learning foundations, and practical understanding through sensory-informed, interactive activities. This runs every Friday from 1:30pm-3:30pm at Jubilee Community Centre, NR1 2EX.
What are After School: Wind Down Den and when do they run?
After School: Wind Down Den with Autism Explorers is an SEN specific after school club, with sensory activities, including therapeutic art, Lego/Duplo therapy, movement cavities and much more! Supporting transitions from school to the weekends and half-term. This runs every Friday from 4:00pm to 5:15pm at Jubilee Community Centre, NR1 2EX.
What are Creative Explorers: Art Club and when do they run?
Creative Explorers: Art Club is an SEN structured art class, allowing your little explorers to be creative and flourish. This runs every other Sunday from 2:45pm - 4:00pm at Jubilee Community Centre, NR1 2EX.
